Maureen Denise McCormick was born on August 5, 1956, at Woodland Hills, California, the youngest and only daughter of Richard and Irene McCormick. She was raised by an unemployed mother who worked as household worker and father who taught. Michael, Dennis, and Kevin are her three elder brothers. McCormick has always been a fan of performing, dancing and putting on puppet shows. When she won her first Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest in the age group of six years old, Pat Domigan from the Jack Wormser Agency called her asking if McCormick wanted to get into show business. McCormick was chosen for her first role of note at the age of 64. McCormick appeared in a Mattel commercial that featured the doll Baby Pattaburp. She did another Mattel commercial in 1964 to promote their "Chatty-Cathy" doll. Soon after, McCormick was chosen as the main role in the show the show Wind It up and It Breaks at the The La Jolla Playhouse. McCormick was portrayed as the youngest of three girls who had two heads on The Brady Bunch TV comedy The Brady Bunch. Florence Henderson was the main character as well as Robert Reed was the father. It lasted five years. McCormick in her memoir The Surviving Marcia Brady: Finding My True Voice which was published in 2008 revealed that, during the 5th season of the show, McCormick almost lost her relationship with her brother Barry Williams. The time was when she was 16 and he was 19. "It was supposed to happen," said the woman, "but it never happened in the perfect time for us."
